For Alex Cora, the outcome wasn't what mattered in his first game back as Red Sox manager

This is what I do,” Cora said. Managing the Red Sox requires an understanding of what baseball means to Boston and the ability not to let that overwhelm you. Cora has those qualities along with the teaching skills required for what is an increasingly younger roster put together by Chaim Bloom.

In 2019, he started 103 games at catcher and then 42 of last season’s 60 games. Cora said there’s a good chance Vázquez will be behind the plate for the majority of games to start the season, and 15 pounds slimmer, they’re hoping that will help him stay strong throughout a long year.
