Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Friday that he admired how Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom capitalized on New York’s dire financial situation and acquired reliever Adam Ottavino and pitching prospect Frank German earlier in the week. The Yankees, who are trying to get under the $210 million competitive balance tax threshold, sent Ottavino, German and $850,000 to the Red Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations Monday afternoon.
