The Red Sox spent $100,000 on a lottery ticket on Thursday when they selected righthander Garrett Whitlock from the Yankees in the Rule 5 Draft. By virtue of their record last season, the Sox had the fourth pick of the draft and grabbed the 24-year-old. Now Whitlock will get a chance to make the team in spring training.
