The Boston Red Sox sit in first place in the American League East, 2.5 games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays and 8.5 games ahead of the New York Yankees. That puts Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom in the driver’s seat with a little more than 24 hours until the deadline.
