Speaking on a conference call hours after the announcement that Sale needed surgery, Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom declined to say if the surgery had been scheduled or which doctor would be performing it. Bloom said the Sox were mindful of the current state of the healthcare system and vowed that the club would not put any additional further burden on it.
